Extra Magic Hours
One of the best perks one is able to take advantage of when staying at a Disney resort is extra magic hours (EMH) at the parks. On certain days of the week, one of the parks will either open one hour early or say open three hours late. Depending upon the dynamic of your family, one of these opportunities should be taken advantage of every chance you can get, for sure.
If you have young children, I recommend extra MORNING hours. This will also enable you to enjoy the park opening shows at the Magic Kingdom and at the Animal Kingdom, both of which start 12-15 minutes before opening time.
For families of teens and adults, you will definitely want to stay for extra EVENING hours. If there is one thing most teenagers enjoy, whether at home or on vacation, it is being able to sleep late. Going to the park later in the morning or early afternoon and staying after many people have left the park is the way to go.
Nearly all of the most popular rides are open during EMH. This is the best time to ride without waiting in lines for long periods of time. For extra magic hours you will be required to show your key to the kingdom card at each ride. This is the prime example of why you need to have a lanyard. To avoid having to take out your card at each ride, just put it into the cardholder on your lanyard. You will go right into the line.
Extra magic hours are a great perk. Be sure to check out the offerings for the dates of your travel and work these times into your itinerary.
